RESOLUTION 02-101 I
APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF TERRY SESKER AS WAUKEE FIRE
CHIEF
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORiTY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,an incorporated entity within Dallas County,wishes to
expand its city ambulance service to 24/7 coverage and decrease its ISO rating from a
Town Class seven;AND,
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee has chosen to hire a full time fire chief,replacing its
part time fire chief;AND,
WHEREAS,from the five candidates interviewed on June 29,2002,Terry Sesker was
the prospective fire chief who received the highest approval rating and who was selected
to be the new full time Fire Chief for the City of Waukee;AND,
WHEREAS,Terry Sesker has been offered the position of Fire Chief starting 08-21-02
with the following expectations and benefits:
1)The City expects ambulance service to be provided 24/7 and continuation of
efforts to reduce the ISO rating for the city.
2)The City requires a complete physical examination prior to August 21,2002.
3)The City requires the completion of a pre-employment drug test and may
require periodic drug testing during employment.
4)Salary for the position will start at $48,500 with an increase to $49,000 upon
successful completion of a six month probationary period.
5)A credit of two weeks of vacation will be granted for the first year of
employment.After the first year,the city personnel policy for vacations will be
followed.
6)The city will pay Yz of moving expenses following approval of an estimate
from a reputable vendor.
7)Additional benefits are as listed in the City Employee Handbook and include:
health insurance,holidays,IPERS,social security,$20,000 tenn life insurance,long term
disability insurance and paid sick leave.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL YED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 15th day of July 2002 that it hereby approves the appointment of Terry Sesker
as Waukee Fire Chief beginning August 21,2002.
