RESOLUTION 02-110
APPROVING PURSUIT OF A GRANT OPPORTUNITY FROM PRAIRIE MEADOWS
FOR FURNISHINGS AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE NEW WAUKEE PUBLIC
LIBRARY BUILDING BY THE WAUKEE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the Waukee Public Library Foundation was created to operate exclusively for
charitable,educational and literary purposes as a nonprofit corporation,with its activities
conducted for the enhancement and improvement of the Waukee Public Library;AND,
WHEREAS,the Library Foundation operates as a nonprofit corporation under the laws ofthe
State ofIowa and within the limitations of50l(c)(3)of the Internal Revenue Code;AND,
WHEREAS,Prairie Meadows requires authorization from the owner/operator ofthe library
facility for the Waukee Public Library Foundation to qualify as a certified applicant to request
funds from said organization;AND,
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee is the legal owner ofthe Waukee Public Library;AND,
WHEREAS,the Waukee Public Library Foundation wishes to pursue a grant from Prairie
Meadows to assist with furnishing and equipping the new library,support for this grant project
and authorization to do so is requested from the City of Waukee.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
5th day of August 2002 that it hereby approves supporting the Waukee Public Library Foundation
in its quest to obtain a grant from Prairie Meadows and to authorize the Waukee Public Library
Foundation to pursue grant opportunities with Prairie Meadows to benefit the new Waukee
Public Library.
