THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
APPROVING VEENSTRA &KIMM,INC AS ENGINEERS FOR THE 2003
ASHWORTH DRIVE SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS,PHASES I &II
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.were selected as the engineer for the Capitol
Improvements Project originally announced as a request for engineering proposals (RFP)
September 7,2001;AND,
WHEREAS,several of the projects inc1nding Sidewalk Construction and Pavement Overlay on
Ashworth Drive between 6th Street and 2nd Street were put on hold during the year 2002;AND,
WHEREAS,the City now wishes to pursue construction of the sidewalk on the north and south
sides of Ashworth Drive from 6th Street to 2nd Street;AND,
WHEREAS,the City also wants to add approximately 300 feet on either side of Second Street
between Northview and Ashworth Drive and also between 200 and 300 feet on the east side of
Third Street between Northview and Ashworth Drive,AND,
WHEREAS,the fee for the design work of the entire project is equal to approximately $14,864
and the assessment portion of the project is equal to approximately $2,000 to $4,000 putting the
total project in the range of$16,000 to $19,000;AND,
WHEREAS,City Staff have reviewed the proposal for the entire project and fmd it acceptable.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
29th day of October 2003 that it hereby approves Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.as engineers for the
2003 Ashworth Drive Sidewalk Improvements,Phases I &II.
