THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
APPROVING VEENSTRA &KIMM,INC.AS ENGINEERS FOR THE SUGAR CREEK
PUMP STATION AND TRUNK SEWER PROJECT FOR THE AREA GENERALLY
LOCATED WEST OF L.A.GRANT PARKWAY AND NORTH OF 312TH STREET
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee continues to grow in all directions;AND,
WHEREAS,as a result of questions regarding sanitary sewer service for the area South of
University Ave,West ofL.A.Grant Parkway and North of3l2th Place,City Staff requested the
council approve V &K Inc as the engineers for a Sewer Service Area on July 21,2003;AND,
WHEREAS,recommendations from the completed study dated July 30,2003 included
improvements being referred to as the Sugar Creek Pump Station and Trunk Sewer Project which
shall include the following improvements:
Construction of 2.1 mgd pump station,access drive,standby power,magnetic
meter and approximately 5,000 linear feet of force main and appurtenances
Also construction of approximately 2,700 linear feet of l2-inch trunk sewer
tributary to the pumping station is included in the scope of the work;AND,
WHEREAS,at the request of the City Staff,Veenstra &Kinun,Inc.have submitted a proposal
to provide engineering services for this project at a cost of 8.2%ofthe overall cost of the project
estimated to be $1,123,000,which is approximately $92,000.00;AND,
WHEREAS,tills proposal meets with the approval of City Staff.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
lih day of November 2003 that it hereby approves Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.Engineering Proposal
for Sugar Creek Pump Station and Trunk Sewer Project for the area generally located west of
L.A.Grant Parkway and North of 3 12th Street in the amount of $92,000.00.
