APPROVING RESULTS OF CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S
ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REVIEW
IN THE NAME AND BY THEA UTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,Mark Arentsen is serving as City Administrator for the City of Waukee at the
will of the City Council of the City of Waukee;AND,
WHEREAS,the annual review of all non represented employees occurs prior to the
annual pay adjustment,which happens at the beginning of the new fiscal year,July 1;
AND,
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Waukee evaluated the performance of Mark
Arentsen for his job performance beginning in J1U1e,2004;AND,
WHEREAS,a majority of the City Council of the City of Waukee has found that Mark
Arentsen has in many instances met or exceeded the Council's expectation;AND,
WHEREAS,in those instances where Mr.Arentsen's job performance did not meet
Council's expectation,recommendations for improvement have been provided Mr.
Arentsen.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session
this 2nd day of August 2004 that Mark J.Arentsen,upon his acceptance of the following
terms of employment,which terms are currently in effect,be asked to continue his
employment at will,as City Administrator,with the City of Waukee:
1.Annual Salary prior to July 1,2004 of$74,140.00 has been adjusted by the
3.5%approved for all non represented employees during the July 12,2004
Council meeting and will be for FY05 a salary of $76,734.90.
2.Pension -Participation in a deferred compensation plan offered by the City.
The City will contribute to the plan in the same amount as would be contributed
to lPERS.
3.Health Insurance -The same as provided to other City employees.
4.Holidays,Vacation,Sick Leave -The same as provided to other City
employees.
5.Automobile -The City will pay $250/month for the use ofMr.Arentsen's
personal car while on City business within the Des Moines metro area.For the
use ofMr.Arentsen's car for City purposes outside the metro area,he will be
paid mileage per City policy and IRS regulations.
6.Dues,Conferences,Expenses -Within budget constraints,the City will pay for
dues and related membership costs to the Iowa City/County Managers
Association,and other related organizations.The City will pay for your
attendance at the lACMA Conference and the lCMA conference.The City will
reimburse expenses incurred related to the conduct of City business.This
includes dues (not meals)to the Waukee Rotary Club.
7.Any and all other benefits which are provided to non represented employees
and which are listed in the City Employee Handbook.
