RESOLUTION 04-243
APPROVING THE MAJOR STREETS PLAN
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORiTY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the Major Streets Plan was developed to provide guidance concerning street
placement when planning for and approving development within new areas;AND,
WHEREAS,Jolm Knrsitis of Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.took the lead in preparing the report
including in the preparation for the report:
(1)Preparation of an expanded aerial photography base map westerly to Ortonville and
southerly to the Raccoon River;
(2)Developing an npdated Major Streets Plan utilizing the Comprehensive Plan and other
previous studies and reports,and the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MFO)
information relative to major streets;
(3)Coordination of the updated Major Streets Plan with streets plans of the City of Clive
and the City of West Des Moines;
(4)Review of existing and updating minimum street right-of-way and pavement width
and pavement thickness standards based on the functional classification of streets ofthe
Comprehensive Plan,the Subdivision Ordinance,and City Standard Specifications;
AND,
WHEREAS,this updated Major Streets Plan is intended to be a guide to major streets
development in the City which would amend the Comprehensive Plan and previous provisions of
the Subdivision Ordinance and Standard Specifications.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
l Sth day of October 2004 that it hereby approves the Major Streets Plan,2004 including in that
plan a change in the designation of streets such that Third Street between Ashworth Drive and
Northview Drive is to be identified as a Minor Collector and Fourth Street from Ashworth Drive
to Northview is to be identified as a Neighborhood Street.
