May 24,1972 (Special Meeting)
Present:Dennis Dolmage,John Hamilton,Ruby Mertes and Gilbert Stanley.
John Felton,Waukee Administrative Officer,was also present.
Absent:Jim Berner,Hugh Grandfield and (vacancy).
Guests:none
Special meeting called to order by Chairman Ruby Mertes.
Minutes of May 16,1972 Planning and Zoning meeting were read and approved.
The proposed revision of Zoning Ordinance Article VI,Section 600,was'discussed.
at length.Motion made for approval,seconded and passed.
The revision of Section XXII of the Ordinance relating to sanitary sewers;in-
cluding storm,surface and ground water connections and foundation drainage
regulations was review~d -no action taken as revision already acted upon by
Council.
The proposed ordinance establishing parking regulations in Waukee was discussed
at length.Tpe possible need for an accompanying change in the off street park-
ing requirements of our Planning and Zoning Ordinance applicable to residential
units was also discussed.A motion was made,seconded and passed to convey to
the Town Council that the Planning and Zoning Commission feels that the present
version of the parking ordinance is too restrictive.
Planning and Zoning observations:
1.Feel regulations on East-West streets in Corene Acreas area are too re-
strictive --need to consider location of fire hydrants.
2.Section 6 not explicit enough --distance and/or directions needed --see
Section 6 B.&C.
3.Recommend making Walnut one way east from 6th·and Walnut to 6th and Ash-
worth with diagonal parking on both sides of Walnut.
4.Denlee Drive not mentioned.
Planning and Zoning volunteers to meet with Parking Ordinance Committee to assist
with further work on the proposed ordinance.
The map showing School and Waukee City Park properties currently proposed for
annexation was reviewed.
John Felton reported on his activities as Administrative
discrepancies and sign regula t ion violations were noted.

A proposed Dallas County road maintainer building on the triangular plot of
unincorporated ground lying on the northerly side of Ashworth near 2nd and Ash-
worth and entirely surrounded by Town of Waukee residential zoning was discussed.
It was decided to write to the Dallas County Supervisors and Dallas County
Planning and Zoning expressing the concern of the Waukee Planning and Zoning
Commission on this matter.
It was reported that Jerry Stone and Bob Applegate have been appointed to the
Waukee Board of Adjustment.Jerry Stone has subsequently been named chairman.
Ruby Mertes reported on the Waukee Town Council meeting of May 8,1972.
Dennis Dolmage reported on the Dallas County Planning and Zoning meeting of May 23,
1972 .

Gilbert Stanley reported on the May 23,1972 meeting of C I R P C officials
with the Dallas County Board of Supervisors.
John Hamilton will represent Planning and Zoning at the June 12,1972 Town
Council meeting.
The next regular Planning and Zoning meeting will be June 30,1972.
