HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986-02-18-Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes149 February 4,1986 The next regular meeting will be held February 18,1986 at 7:30p.m. Respectfully submitted, Ruby Mertes,secreuary February 18,1986 The Waukee Planning & on February 18,1986. at 7:40 p.m. Zoning Commission held their regular meeting It was called to order by Chairman Rosenkranz Members'present:Gutshall,Casey,Rosenkranz,Demand &Mertes. Absent:Foster &Weeks Guests:Bob McKinney,Tom McClure and Brian Redshaw. Motion made by Mertes,second by Casey,to approve the minutes of the February 4,1986 meeting as submitted.Motion carried. Each member confirmed the receipt of a letter dated February 5,1986 from McKinney &McKinney Law Offices concerning the proposed const- ruction of their new building at 6th &Locust.Site plan requirements were provide per 304.5 of the Municipal Code of Waukee. A letter from Roger Buffington,City Engineer,was submitted glvlng recommendation of approval for the proposed site plan for McKinney &McKinney Law Office.Bob McKinney indicated the specific items of concern made by the City Engineer would be taken care of.Discussion was held pertaining to the low area of the lot.McKinney agreed it would be taken care of. Casey made the motion to approve the site plan submitted,second by Demand.Carried unanimously. Chairman Rosenkranz suggested at our next regular meeting we try to come up with an ordinance for park site set aside space for new developers in the City of Waukee. A proposal was made by our chairman that we consider special areas of expertise for each member.Noting that it would be of benefit to the City and Planning &Zoning Commission.Specialties to be considered: 1)Signs &Utilities,2)Parking and set backs,3)Non conforming uses, 4)District conformity,5)Site plans,6)Subdivision regulations. Redshaw agreed to do a mailing of these minutes so that each member would have a chance to consider the area of their choice and be ready to discuss same at the next regular meeting of l1arch 8,1986. Moved by Gutshall,second by Casey,to adjourn.Motion carried. 150 February 18,1986---cont Respectfully submitted, Ruby Mertes,secretary March 18,1986 The regular meeting of the Waukee Planning &Zoning Commission was called to order at 7:50 p.m.on March 18,1986 by Chairman Floyd Rosenkranz. A roll call was taken and the following members were present:Weeks, Rosenkranz,Casey and Foster.Absent:Mertes,Gutshall,and Demand. Moved by Casey,second by Foster,to approve the minutes of February 18,1986.Carried unanimously. Guests at this meeting were:Frank Hoifeldt,Brian Redshaw and Debra Davenport arrived at 9:05 p.m. Frank Hoifeldt and Brian Redshaw informed the Planning &Zoning Comm. that Debra Davenport was pursuing the establishment of a tanning salon in the second story of her residence at 7th &Ashw·orth. The P &Z researched the proposed establishment and could find nothing in the City ordinance allowing the tanning salon. Debra Davenport arrived at 9:05 p.m.and presented her proposal of a tanning salon at her residence.The size of the busines.s,zoning,loc- ation in the building and parking were discussed. It was the general recommendation of the P &Z Commission that,accord- ing to its review of the City ordinance,the salon would meet the City ordinance requirements. The P &Z discussed and started the preparation of a Parks Ordinance for presentation to Joe Stork of the Parks &Recreation Comnlittee. A brief discussion was held concerning the extension of City property boundaries. Moved by Casey,second by Weeks,to adjourn.Carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 9:38 p.m. "1I,I I I
