September 23,1985
The regular meeting of the Haukee Planning &Zoning Commission was
called to order at 7:30 p.m.by Chairman Floyd Rosenkranz.No
meeting was held August 26,1985 since no business was pending.
Members present at this meeting were:Demand,Foster,Weeks,
Rosenkranz,Hertes and Gutshall.
Guests present:Joe Stork and Brian Redshaw.
Hoved by Foster,second by Nertes,to approve the August 7,1985
minutes.Ho t Lon carried.
Chairman Rosenkranz noted that the Waukee City Council approved
our recommendation to change the term to serve on Planning &Zoning
from 5 years to 3 years.

The regular meeting of the Waukee P &Z Commission was called to order
at 7:35 porn.by Chairman Floyd Rosenkranz.
Members present were:
Rosenkranz.Absent:
Foster,Week,s Demand,Gutshall,Casey and
Mertes.
Guests present were·:Jim and Betty DeWitt
The DeWitt's just purchase a house at 550-5th St.They are concerned
about the property next to them that want to be rezoned for mult-tenant
building.At this time,the owner of the property in question has
not approached P &Z to rezone from R-2 to R-3.No further action was
taken.

Demand made a m9tion relative to Section 301.7 of the Waukee
Municipal Code.Case on our discussion of that section,we
believe the sign at Ashworth and Northview,entering Corene
Acres,no longer qualifies as a non-conforming use based on the
fact that it has been expanded.The original purpose has been
altered.Second by Foster.Hotion carried.
Moved by Foster,second by Weeks,to adjourn.Motion carried

The regular meeting of the Waukee Planning &Zoning Commission
was called to order by Randy Foster.
Members present were:
Rosenkranz.Absent:
Casey,Gutshall,Foster,Weeks,Mertes and
Demand.
Guests:Larry Clayton and Roger Buffington,city engineer.
A bike path and nature trail were briefly discussed for the rail-
road right-of-way into West Des Moines.
Larry Clayton of Kid's Company presented his concern for an official
interpretation that his interests were best served in building on
his property on Fourth Street.City Engineer Buffington addressed
his question in stating that it is not felt that it is reasonable
or practical for the City of Waukee to require final grading on
individual subdivision lots in Waukee.The final grading require-
ments must fall upon the purchaser of their lot as needed.

The amendment to Chapter 303 regarding detention methods of storm
water control was discussed by Roger Buffington.His feeling that
this amendment addition to Section 1,Section 303.164 was not nec-
essary because it was covered in the original Waukee Regulations.
Moved by Foster,second by Casey,not to adopt the ordinance change
that was proposed for Section 303.164 because current regulation
code can be interpreted to cover the City of Waukee's needs.Motion
carried.
The election of officers for 1986 took place.
Moved by Gutshall,second by Weeks,to elect Floyd Rosenkranz as
chairman.Carried unanimously.
