PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
JUNE 27,1995
The meeting was called to order at 7:03pm by Chairman Royer with Kurt Rueckel taking
minutes.
Roll call was taken with the following members present:Blazanin,Steele,Korpanty,and
Chairman Royer.Absent:Hoifeldt,Heskett,and Applegate.
Also present:John Kursitis,Mark Gruber,and Kurt Rueckel.
IVIINUTES OF JVT~Y 23,1995.Commission member Blazanin had "t'-NO minor
grammatical/typographical corrections to the minutes and with that made a motion,seconded by
Steele,to approve the minutes.Upon voice vote the motion passed 3-0.
LOTS OF RECORD.The Board discussed adding language to the zoning ordinance pertaining
to "lots of record".This would help eliminate the need for property owners to go to the Board
of Adjustments in a lot of cases.After a brief discussion,motion by Blazanin,seconded by
Korpanty to adopt the City of Johnston's section on lots of record.Upon voice vote the motion
passed 3-0.
ZONING MAP.The P &Z discussed the proposed zoning map and its changes.After months
of review,a motion was made by Steele,seconded by Korpanty,to forward the proposed map to
the City Attorney for his review.The motion passed 3-0.
Chairman Royer expressed his concem about deck being allowed to be constructed on a lot that
had a nonconforming use.The Zoning Administrator,Mark Gruber,stated that this was allowed
under the ordinance,but that the addition onto the house would not be.
Chairman Royer also reminded the members that there was a vacancy on the City Council due to
the resignation of Councilman Duroy.
Motion by Blazanin,seconded by Steele,to adjoum at 7:35pm.Upon voice vote the motion
passed 3-0.
