COMMISSION MEETING.

Chairman Steele called the August 28,2001 meeting ofthe Planning &Zoning Commission to
order at 7:04 p.rn.
Roll Call.The Chairman asked for a roll call and the following Commissioners were present:
Steele,McCoige,Willits,White,Hoifeldt,Korpanty,and Schoeberl.Absent:None.
Council Representative present:None.
Agenda Approval.Chairman Steele asked if there were any changes to the agenda.None.
Motion by Commissioner Hoifeldt,second by Commissioner McCoige to "Approve the
Agenda".The Commission Chairman asked for a roll call vote:Ayes:Hoifeldt,McCoige,
Schoeberl,Willits,White,and Steele.Nays:None.
Adoption of Previous Meetings Minutes.Motion by Commissioner Willits,second by
Commissioner White to "Adopt the August 14,2001 meeting minutes".Chairman Steele asked
for a roll call vote.Ayes:Willits,White,McCoige,Hoifeldt,Schoeber!,Korpanty,and Steele.
Nays:None.
Approve the Site Plan for the Waukee Public Library.There were several items of
discussion on the Library Site Plan:I)Landscaping buffer -the property has a row of existing
evergreen trees along the north and the west end of the lot,2)Lighting -the parking lot lighting
would not be obtrusive to the residential area and may be turned on and off within the building
with a minimal amount of lighting left on ovemight,3)Parking -the parking more than exceeds
the amount necessary for the Library and,4)Sidewalk -along Warrior Lane will be added to
the site drawing before the Council approval.Motion by Commissioner Willits,second by
Commissioner McCoige to "Approve the Site Plan for the Waukee Public Library contingent on
the V &K comments and staff items are completed".Chairman Steele asked for a roll call vote.
Ayes:Willits,McCoige,Korpanty,White,Hoifeldt,Schoeberl,and Steele.Nays:None.
Approve the Site Plan for the Westview Church Addition.There were several items of
discussion that took place on the Westview Church Addition Site Plan:1)Elevator -this item
will be added when the next addition to the southeast ofthe building is done,2)A sidewalk will
be added to allow access from the front ofthe building to the rear of the building for ADA
accessibility,3)Screening around the mechanical equipment -this is a requirement of the Site
Plan Ordinance and will be addressed before the Site Plan will be approved,4)Rezoning -the
City required the rezoning of this property at the August 20,200 I Council meeting as part of the
approval for the temporary buildings -the rezoning should be done consecutively with the site
plan approval.Motion by Commissioner Schoeber!,second by Commissioner McCoige to
"Table the Site Plan for the Westview Church until the September II,200 I Planning Zoning
meeting to allow time for the Site Plan to meet all the Site Plan requirements according the
Waukee Municipal Code Book Section 304,and to address the V &K comments".Chairman
Steele asked for a roll call vote.Ayes:Schoeber!,McCoige,Hoifeldt,Willits,Korpanty,White,
and Steele.Nays:None.

Adjournment.Motion by Commissioner Willits,second by Commissioner McCoige to adjourn
at 8:40 p.m.Chairman Steele asked for a roll call vote:Ayes:Willits,McCoige,Korpanty,
White,Schoeberl,Hoifeldt,and Steele.Nays:None.
