The Waukee Planning &Zoning Commission was called to order at 7:05pm by Chairman
Steele.
Roll was taken and the following members were present:McCoige,Heskett,Hoifeldt,
Steele,Korpanty,Applegate,Royer.Absent:None.
Dianna VanZee was present and taking minutes.
Hoifeldt motioned,Royer seconded to approve the minutes of the September 30th meeting
with one correction.Minutes approved 6 to o.
There were no agenda additions.
Approval 1998 P&Z Calendar.The calendar had some changes and this will be
changed and copies handed out at the Commission at the next meeting.Moved by Royer,
seconded by Heskett,to approve the 1998 calendar with the changes noted.Motion
carried 6 to o.
Vaughn Property Development Concept.The City Council sent back to the Planning
&Zoning Commission this development with some of their concerns.The concerns of
the Council were traffic flow and the density of the property.A traffic analysis of the
area was done.After much discussion regarding the amount of traffic flowing onto
Alice's Road and University,Dallas Gilreath ask if someone from the P&Z,City and
himself could meet to try to work out these issues.Frank Hoifeldt and Jeff McCoige said
they would represent the P&Z Commission.Kurt Rueckel will set a time and date.
Site Plan Ordinance Review.The Commission reviewed the site plan ordinance.The
Changes have been noted.Veenstra &Kirnm will do the corrections and the
Commission will have the revied ordinance to review by the next meeting.
Other Business.Jerry Steele voiced some concern regarding the type oftownhomes the
developers of Hawthorne Ridge are proposing to build.He felt that the Commission was
told the price and now they are proposing to be rental units.He stated that he would like
them to come back to the Commission and show them their new plans.He felt that they
had told the Commission one thing and now they were doing a different project.
Motion by Applegate,seconded by Royer,to adjourn.Meeting adjourned at 9:25p.m.
