A meeting of the Board of Adjustment was held on November 19,1983
and was called to order at 9,30 a.m.by Chairman Torn Inman.Board
members present were:Torn Inman,Florence Anderson,Mike Aldrich &
Dennis Thompson.Absent:Jerome Volkmer.
A discussion was held concerning the case of William Porter at 650
Kaylin Drive.Previous to this meeting,Chairman Inman and City
Attorney Paul Huscher, had reviewed the };lunicipal.Code sections
relating to this case and had determined that a garage does not need
to be 30 feet from the rear lot line. The only restrictions that
apply are that a garage must be at least 10 feet into the rear yard
and can occupy no more than 30 percent of the rear yard. After these
facts were considered by the Board, the case was dismissed.
The case of Gordon Christianson of 125 Waukee Ave.was considered next.
Inman advised the Board that a fire wall was to be constructed in
the garage at the same time that the porch was to be built. The
material to be used was to be rated as a 2 hour fire wall, which would
be subject to Zoning Administrator approval. The porch was to be
constructed 3 feet above ground and enclosed by glass windows.
Christianson had advised the Board that it was not his intention to
use this porch as living quarters, either now or in the future.
Moved by Thompson, second by Anderson,to approve the construction of
this porch as presented.A roll call vote was taken as follows:
