July 6,1987 The Waukee Board of Adjustment met on July 6,1987 to consider the appeal of Kenneth N Hurt who resides at 405 Northview.Mr. Hurt proposes to construct a 6 foot privacy fence on the east side of his co rriert.Lo t ,from the rear of his house to the rear lot line.His property lies on the corner of 4th Street and Northview Dr. Section 301.8 of the Waukee Municipal Code describes Visiblity At Intersection in Residentail District.It indicates that northing shall be erected in such a manner'as materially to impede vision between a height of 2~and 10 feet above the center line grades of the intersecting streets.It also indicates that no fence,wall or hedge shall exceed 4 feet in height along the street side yard of a corner lot within the area of the front yard,extended,of an abutting lot to the rear of said corner lot. The Board unanimously voted to grant Mr.Hurt a variance. Beverly McNamara of 345 Northview had written a letter of opposition regarding Mr Hurt's variance,as did E F Roberts,345 Northview. The Board also considered the appeal of Mark Gruber who resides at 510 Locust.Mr Gruber wishes to exceed the maximum height on his proposed garage. Section 301.11 of the Waukee Municipal code describes the height limitations within the R-2 residential district.Subsection C-7 limits the height of an accessory building to 14 feet. No objections were received. The Board unanimously voted to grant Mr Gruber a variance. Meeting adjourned. Chairman September 21,1987 The Board met to consider the appeal of Richard Schwartz who owns property located on University Avenue located adj acent·to William Turf Farms,Inc.Mr Schwartz wishes to construct a building 26 feet in height to allow him to install a 14 foot overhead door. Section 301.9 of theWaukee Municipal Code describes the height limitations within the A-I agriculture district.Subsection C-7 limits the height of an accessory building to 14 feet. No objections were received,either written or oral. The WaukeeBoard of Adjustment met on present:Grier,Storey and Gutshall. time. The Board met to consider the appeal of Virgil Kahl who owns the property located at 90 Bel -Ai.re Drive.Mr.Kahl wishes a variance for the construction of a garage. Movedby Grier,second by Gutshall,to approve a variance for Virgil Kahl. Motion carried 3 to o. July 24,1989 with the following members Presently there are 2 vacancies at tills September 21,1987---cont The Board of Adjustment unanimously voted to grant a variance to Mr.Schwartz. Meeting adjourned. Chairman July 24,1989 The Board unanimouslyvoted to grant Mr.Kahl a variance. Meeting adjourned. Chairman OCtober 30,1989 The WaukeeBoard of Adjustment met on October 30,1989 with the following memberspresent:Grier,Storey and Gutshall.Brian Redshawpresent and taking minutes. The Board met to consider the appeal of Stan Klein who owns property located at 740 Locust.Mr Klein presented his request to build a 26 x 40'garage 17'6"in height.The ordinance allows a 14ft maximumheight for accessory buildings. MarkGruber,Zoning Administrator,explained that the maximumwas designed to keep accessory buildings no higher than a single story ranch style. Homesin tills area of town are 1 1/2 to 2 stories each. Movedby Storey,second by Gutshall,to approve the variance as presented by Mr.Klein.Motion ca=ied 3 to o. The Board unanimouslyvoted to grant Mr.Klein a variance. Meeting adjourned. Chairman
