WAUKEE PARKS COMMITTEE MEETING

*Five Year PlanTerrylead the discussion and gathered in-put from the
committee members regarding the Five Year Plan for the parks.
The topics included current facilities,program and bUdget.A
more detailed discussion of goals and objectives will be held
at the February meeting.
*Park CommitteeSomeconcerns expressed by members of the committee were:
Should the committee have input regarding the park
department budget?Should the members be a committee or a board?
Should work assignments be arranged so that Terry be
given time to assume responsibilities for the parks,the area
where his expertise lies?
*Rental Fee for the Shelter House
AT the May 1996 meeting the Park Committee recommended
an increase of fees for the enclosed shelter house.A $30 deposit
and $30 for use will be charged for local groups,with no charge
for local non-profit groups or youth groups.A deposit of $60
and $60 for use of the shelter will be the charge for out-of-town
groups.The deposit wi11be refunded if the building is left clean
and the bags of garbage removed.
YMCAThe fall and winter programs implemented by the Walnut
Creek YMCA have been well attended.An expanded program will
be planned for the summer.It was suggested that Leighann
Sullivan of the YMCA attend the February Park Committee meeting
to review the program.

The next regular meeting of the Park Committee will be
Tueaday,February 24 at 7:00 PM at the Waukee Public Library.
