*Waukee Soccer
Dan Dutcher and Barry Paterson reported that there are
800 participants in the spring and fall soccer program. They
have fields at the high school and Centennial Park and a land-
lease agreement on fields a couple of miles west of town. While
they have registration fee of $30 per individual and tournament
fees, more money is needed for uniforms, paint, nets, and supplies.
John Wesselmann asked them to present a list of specific needs
and he would see how the Park Fund could help.
Community Center
There is a need in Waukee for a building to accommodate
large meetings and receptions.John Wessellman presented his
idea of a Community Center building located in Centennial Park,
one that is winterized, has a full kitchen, and space for one
large or two medium sized meeting rooms. The Lion's Club has
been raising funds for a center, and the JayCees and Business
Association said that they would present th~idea to their groups.
It is hoped that with the cooperation of these and othercaommunity
groups, such a building could be completed in a year or so.
*
*A copy of the Parks budget through the end of January 1996
was supplied.
*Park Shelter House
The fee to reserve the enclosed shelter house at Centennial
Park is $15 for local groups and $50 for outside groups, with
a deposit of $15,which is refunded if the shelter is left clean
and ready for the next groups.John W.said that the deposit does
not cover the cost of paying his help to come in on the week-end

to check the shelter and pick up the garbage. There has been
a problem with a resident reserving the shelter/for an outside
group at the lower fee.The Park Committee recommended that
the resident who reserves the building be present for the
activity and that the group who reserves the shelter should
remove their own garbage. The deposit fee for everyone should
be raised and that the out-of-town charge for the shelter
be increased.
*Christmas Decorations
Most of the Christmas decorations displayed by the city
are old and need to be replaced.$2000 has been budgeted Eor
replacements.Lyn Schaefer from Classic Florist made some
attractive wreaths last year and said that she would make some
more at her cost.Terry M.said that the storage are~for the
decorations has been improved.
