Home My WebLink About1998-03-05-Parks and Recreation Committee MinutesWaukee Park &Recreation Cmte Minutes of March 5,1998 Meeting The following members were present:Marge Lause,Bill Peard,Tom Wilkerson,Dan Gardner,Tom Tovrea,Linda Foltz,Renae Herr and Wayne Johnson. The meeting was called to order at 7pm by Bill Peard.The minutes of the February 18,1998 meeting were approved.The agenda was also approved. A short discussion was held about the ball fields at Centennial Park.Kenny Neph was present representing the Walnut Creek Girls Softball group and Susan Dunn was present representing the Walnut Creek Boys Little League.They are requesting the use of the two smaller ball diamonds in Centennial Park for practices,the girls would also like to use the middle field for an occasional game.Wade Motsinger from the high school also called about using the fields for practice of the school teams.Since a representative of the school and the Waukee Little Girls Softball group were not present at this meeting we will hold a special meeting to discuss this on March 12,1998 at 7pm at City Hall,we will have the representatives of all groups involved come to the meeting at 8pm. We discussed the Fourth of July celebration.Everyone was given a piece to check into and we will report back on our progress at the March 19th meeting. The assignments are as follows:Dan Gardner -Boy Scouts about the fun run. Linda Foltz -Wau-Tri-Kee about watermelon feed. Linda Foltz -Christian Church about BBQ. Wayne Johnson -Girl Scouts about games. Marge Lause -Methodist Church about games. Marge Lause -Catholic Church about bingo. Tom Wilkerson -band for dance. Tom Tovrea -Waukee Jaycees about beer tent. Dan Gardner -softball tournament. Renae Herr -Waukee first responders. Tom Tovrea -Lutheran Church/games? Tom Tovrea -Waukee Athletic Boosters. Renae Herr -Waukee Library. Linda Foltz -check into rain insurance. Chuck Underwood -advertising. Dan Gardner -National Guard. Renae Herr -Shriners/entertainment? Renae Herr -portable toilets. Our budget from the city includes $3000 to pay for any expenses we incur.We felt that this was not a sufficient amount so Tom Tovrea was going to attend the budget hearing Monday March 9,1998 and request some additional monies to help pay for the expenses. After this discussion the meeting was adjourned.Our next meeting will be March 12,1998 at 7pm at City Hall. Respectfully submitted, Marge Lause,secretary.
