Charlene Taylor of Des Moines presented information
about the Trees Forever program (started in 1990)and Urban Trees
(started in 1991).This is a program in which the utility company
that serves our community (Mid-American Energy)matches funds with
the local community for purchase of trees for parks and residential
areas to increase energy efficiency and improve the environment.
Charlene strongly encouraged us to make plans as where trees will
be planted and file an application for a grant from Trees Forever.
Adopt-a Tree for residential planting is an excellent aspect of
the program.Community involvement and volunteers are needed to
carry out this program.

camps are also an option. The YMCA will develop and implement
the program and provide the staff. The City of Waukee would provide
the registration, location and transportation.Fees will be charged
for all of the activities.
