HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-05-07-Parks and Recreation Committee MinutesMinutes ofthe May 7,1998 Park Committee Meeting Present Bill,Peard,Dan Gardiner,Chuck Underwood,Tom Wilkerson,and Linda Foltz. Meeting was called to order by Chairman Peard at 7:20 p.m.at the Waukee City Hall.Guests were DO!1~-1tand Darrel Stall. Donna and Darrel Stall want permission to plant and care for approximately 8 Colorado Blue Spruce (5-6 ft tall)in Winfield Park (East side).They also request permission to get a builder to haul in some black dirt and grade to fill in low spots after the park is retiled.Dan moved and Chuck seconded to accept the gift of the trees from the Stall's.Motioned passes.The Stall's were also wondering what is the estimate and timeframe to have Winfield Park reseeded?It is a muddy mess after it rains!! Linda will call Dallas East to do an article on this gift.Also have Mayor Bailey send a thank you letter. Linda moved to accept the second draft of the by-laws as discussed at the last meeting.Chuck seconded.Motion passed.Dan is taking to Paul Huscher (City Attorney)for a legal opinion. (attached) We will attempt to meet with Kelly Canfield (Clive Parks and Rec)on or before May 18.We need to have by-laws on city council agenda by noon on May 15 (Dan responsible).Dan will present to city council on May 18.Request all Park Committee members be present (7 p.m.at City Hall).If you want to speak at this time have your impassioned speech ready. We recommended that bids for restrooms and storage building go directly to the council to expedite the process. Chuck moved to dismantle the wooden playground equipment (for safety concerns)in Centennial Park (SW comer by enclosed shelter).Tom seconded.Motion carried. We will have report on the upcoming 4 of July celebration at our May 21 st meeting (7 p.m.at city hall). We need to get an ad in the Dallas County Roundup for the citywide garage sale on June 6th We need to get an article in the Waukee Taukee about the upcoming 4 of July parade.
