Monica Lihs called the meeting to order.
*Park Committee
~Dan Gardiner is continuing to WOEk on a constitution
and by-laws to make the Park Committee into a board.
Monica says that there is a need tor sub-committees
within the Park Committee to take care of special functions,
such as the Halloween Hike and out part of the 4th of July
celebration.The sub-committees could get volunteers from the
community to help with the functions.
*REAP Grant ApPlication
There will be a meeting with Lisa Cooper,coordinator
Resource Conservation &Development,Inc.on Tuesday,June 3,
11:00 AM to work on an application for funds for a project
enhance our parks.

4th of July Softball Tournament
Dan Gardiner and Bill Spratt are organizing a slow-pitch
softball tournament to be held on July 4 and 5 as a part of Waukee's
4th of July celebration.The tournament play will start at 8:00 AM
each day.We discussed the flier that Dan has developed promoting
the tournament and ways that the tournament could be advertised.
The Park Committee will run the concession stand near the
east ball fields in Centennial Park both Friday and Saturday while
the games are being played.We are considering keeping the
concession stand open until after the fireworks on the 4th of July.
We plan to work 2 hour shifts.We will need to find volunteers
to help run the stand.

Social Gathering for Youth
Mykee Levitt of rural Waukee is interested in planning
a social activity night each weekend during the summer months
for young people of middle school age.She has contacted five
companies to contribute beverages and/or snacks.
Because of the construction being done at the school buildings,
it is uncertain what space would be available for such an activity
night.There is a possibility that Walnut Creek YMCA could help
coordinate this function.

*Halloween Hike
Since the Halloween Hikes held the past two years
have been successful,the Park Committee will sponsor one this
October.Monica will contact Morris Mason to see if he will be
chairman of this event,as last year.Again,adult volunteers
and responsible youth will be needed for this activity.
*Windfield Park
The construction of the open shelter house at Windfield
Park has been interrupted.John said that he could try to get
some workers to complete the shelter this week-end.
*Triangle Park
John has drawn up plans for the improvement of
Park and has turned them into the Business Association.
Business Association will contribute $3,000 for the work
