Present:Park Committee.Members:Dan Gardiner,Linda Foltz
Monica Lihs,City Council Representative
John Wesselmann,Public Works Director
Even though we did not have a quorum of park members, those present
decided to meet anyway-as originally planned to finalize the plans
for the softball tournament to be held at the park on July 4th.
As of this date 4 teams have signed up to play in the tournament.
A team fee of $100 was determined. The decision was made to go
ahead and hold the games and run the concession stand.Linda,Dan
and Monica were all going to make some phone calls to do some
checking on food items and equipment for the concession stand and
report back on June 24,at our regular park and rec.meeting.
Tentatively,we will check into pizzas,or hamburger/hot dogs,
popcorn, candy, bottled water and pop.Workers will be needed for
the concession stand. The condition qf the concession stand and
softball fields were discussed and what needed to be done prior to
the games.Flyers will be posted at various places as well as
notices in the local newspapers advertising the softball
tournament.
Those present were informed about Terry McNamara(a public works
employee in the parks department)giving his notice to terminate
employment from the City of Waukee.A status report was given about
Virginia's illness (a park committee member).A brief overview was
discussed about two future developments:Hawthorne Ridge and a
conceptual plan of the turf farm. The business assn.will be giving
funds toward a new water fountain at Triangle park.
