HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-03-09-Utilities Committee MinutesThe March 9,1996 Waukee Utility Committee Meeting was called to order at 8:00am.
The following members were present:Ron Olson,Stan Lawson,Marsha Schmidt,Anne Pulliam,
Francis Forret,Marge Schlaefer and Council Representative Nick Gruber.Absent:Russ
Wiesley.Guests:Tim Royer,City Employee.
The February 10,1996 minutes were approved.One notation however,a $350.00 fee for gas
installation was approved by the committee at a previous Utility meeting.
Francis F orret accepted the Committee Chair position.
Recycling Bins:After discussion a motion was made by Ron Olson,seconded by Anne Pulliam
that new homes should receive bins at no cost.Also,those bins that have been damaged,lost,
etc.should also be replaced,within reason,as long as the city has them.The homeowner should
sign a form that they received one.Motion to recommend to Council passed.
Per Capita Fees:Previously per Capita fees have been paid out of the general fund.Raising the
waste pickup fees from $7 to $8 would eliminate this.
Water Hook Up:A motion was made by Ron Olson that a deposit should be received on new
meters,possibly 10%above cost.Motion died.
Mobile Home Park Water Reimbursement Request:The Committee felt further discussion is
necessary on this matter.Some of the items discussed were 1)the Committee felt the Mobile
Home Park should have put 2 back flow preventors in to begin with;2)Also,who paid for the
meters,who installed them and who owns them;3)the Committee felt the City should have an
agreement stating what the park will do in the future to prevent major leaks again.
A motion made by Pulliam,seconded by Lawson to adjourn at 9:30am.
