July 8,1995 Meeting
Jeff Downing called the meeting to order at 8:04pm.
Member Present:Jeff Downing,AmI Pulliam,Ron Olson,Monica Lihs (Council Rep.),Francis
Forret,Marge Schlaefer.Absent:Jim Thompson.
Ron Olson made a motion,seconded by Francis Forret to accept the May 13,1995 minutes.
Motion carried.
Ann Pulliam again explained her concern that the Committee is not receiving the agenda and
information for the Utility meeting prior to the day before.
Guests:Jerry McFall and Jim Conlin from the Mobile Home Court.Michelle Hillman and Bob
Burke from Waste Management oflowa,Inc.Kurt Rueckel,City Administrator.
In regard to exemption from paying Waste/Recyclable fees the committee passed a motion to
recommend to the Council that there should be no exemption except for Snow Birds who would
have their Utilities disconnected for a period of time at $25.00 charge would apply to rehook up
their water.Ann Pulliam made the motion,Ron Olson seconded the motion.
Recycling at Apartments:The committee felt we need to get input from the apartment owners at
our August meeting so we will know what to charge,
Mobile Home Park Garbage/Recycling:Jerry McFall and Jim Conlin from the Mobile Home
Park fully supported the Waste/Recycling Program.It will be put into effect in 30 to 60 days.
Jim Conlin said it was unusual for him to side with the City but fully supports this issue.
Sewer Line on University:Ann Pulliam expressed concern about the proposed new High School
to be built.She and other citizens feel a sewer line needs to be put in first and probably also a lift
station before construction could take place.She doesn't want the tax payers to be double billed.
Francis Forret made a motion to adjourn,AmI Pulliam seconded.Meeting adjourned at 8:45am.
The next Utilities Meeting will be August 12th at 8 :OOamat City Hall.
