The September 2,1997 Waukee Utility Committee meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by
Chairman Francis Forret.
The following members were present:Stan Lawson,Marge Schlaefer,Russ Wiesley,Francis
Forret,and Nick Gruber,Council Representative.Absent:Ron Olson and Anne Pulliam.
The Committee would like the committee minutes mailed or delivered to them within a week after
the meeting.
The June 3rd minutes were approved as read.
Utility Prorating.Motion by Wiesley,seconded by Lawson,to leave the utility billing of new
customers and final bill customers as is.Motion carried.
Budget Billing.Motion by Wiesley,seconded by Lawson,to notify budget billing customers
after first missed payment,they must be current by the second month or be taken off budget
billing with the balance paid in full or payment arrangement made.(Add wording to budget billing
contract).Motion carried.
Arrangements for Payments of Utility Bills:Motion by Lawson,seconded Schlaefer,
delinquent customers will have a notice posted on their door for disconnection of utilities.If
payment has not been received the following day at noon or arrangements made to have payment
within two business days the utilities will be disconnected on the following Monday.There will be
a connection charge of$25.00 for water and $50.00 for gas.Also a $25.00 after hour fee will be
charged for turning the utilities back on and a $25.00 service charge to every customer posted.
Affective date of November 1st.Motion carried.
The Utility Committee would like the Council to check into a Poop Scoop Ordinance.
Motion by Lawson,seconded by Wiesley,to adjourn at 8:15pm.Motion carried.
