October 14,1995 Meeting
Jeff Downing caned the meeting to order at 8:04am.Members Present:Ron Olson,Ann
Pulliam,Jeff Downing,Francis Forret and Marge Schlaefer.
Guests:Marilea Morris and City Administrator Kurt Rueckel.
UTILITIES BUDGETIRATE REVIEW:The committee has requested Kurt to make
comparisons with the other communities in Dallas County as to their water,sewer and gas rates.
Waukee's rates are higher than many other cities.
IMPACT FEES:In order to better discuss the subject ofImpact Fees,the committee feels we
need comparison figures with other communities as to what they charge builders for new home
construction.
WATER:At the present time we are paying the Des Moines Water Works $1.36 per thousand
gallons.A new rate of $.93 will go into effect soon.A valve problem was found and corrected.
Water pressure is somewhat better.Water Meters will now be installed at City Hall,the Library
and Maintenance Barn.
SEWER:There was no money in cash left at the end of last year.The committee was told the
sewer rates will not go up.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15am.
