The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Jeff Downing,the following members were present:
Jeff Downing,JeffMinz,Dan McGowan,Ken Spar,Terry McAtee,Ray Clark,Jennifer Marcouiller,
Larry Crannel,Cheryl Humphry,and Dan Lugar.
BUSINESS BROCHURE SUBCOMMITTEE
JeffMinz talked about the Sub Committee.Jeffhas obtained sample copies from Urbandale and
Clive.Jeff also talked about the Quick reference -Waukee's has not been updated since 1989.This
subcommittee feels that the first priority should be to update the Quick reference and hope to have
it competed within the next few months.The sub-committee would like the city to budget
additional dollars for brochures next budget year.They would like to create a professional color
brochure
Jeff also stated that they would like to review the City logo and slogan.The Commission discussed
whether or not to have businesses pay for advertising in the brochure to help pay for it.
Dan Lugar suggested that we keep it simple,otherwise the information gets lost.
Jeff set a goal of December 18,1996 to complete the Community Quick Reference.Jeff also asked
that the Business Record should be at the next meeting to see if they could do an insert for the City.
DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENTIREDEVELOPMENT SUBCOMMITTEE
The subcommittee had not met since the last meeting.Steve Gerberich the sculpturer will be in
town.The subcommittee will be attempting to meet with him about what he could do downtown,
or for Waukee.They will also be looking into the possibility of obtaining grants.Jeff Downing
asked the subcommittee to report to the Commission in January.He also asked the subcommittee
to talk with the business to get their input,and to see ifthey are interested in doing other things.He
would like that report back to the commission in February/March.Jennifer talked about the idea
to have a mural or sculpture.
The subcommittee talked about the Main Street Program.
IDGHWAY-6 COPING SUBCOMMITTEE
Kurt Ruecke1 stated that he talked to a gentleman from the National Chamber of Commerce about
the Highway-6 project and how it might impact the City.This week he received a call from the
Governor's's office.The Governer's's office will write a letter to IDOT requesting that they pay
special attention so that businesses are not hurt by the project.

The subcommittee has not met since the last meeting.
OTHER BUSINESS
Ray Clark suggested that we look at long distance charges and see if calls to Dallas Center and other
local communities had to be long distance.
Larry Cranne1 stated that the Business Association wanted to do profiles of the Waukee Businesses
so that people know what they do,not only the names.Suggestions were Around Town,Dallas East,
personalized (direct)mailings,etc.
Jeff Downing suggested we look at developing a Home Page.Mayor Bailey said we need someone
to maintain the page and that we should be able to get someone in the community to do it.John
Bartlett was suggested by Cheryl Humphry.Jeff Downing suggested that the Mayor appoint
someone to do the page for us.
