AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving a Memorandum of
Understanding with Communications Workers of America (CWA), Local
#7102, AFL-CIO, as part of the July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2021 contract adding
a new position to the wage matrix at grade GS-3 [Administrative Assistant –
Development Services].

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The Memorandum of Understanding details a position
addition and placement on the wage matrix for an Administrative Assistant –
Development Services, GS-3.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff discussed the position addition and wages with
union representatives and both parties are in agreement and have signed the
Memorandum of Understanding.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 2020-
APPROVING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH COMMUNICATIONS
WORKERS OF AMERICA (CWA), LOCAL #7102, AFL-CIO, REGARDING
ADDITION OF THE POSITION AND PLACEMENT ON THE WAGE MATRIX TO
THE JULY 1, 2013 - JUNE 30, 2016 CONTRACT
[ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – DEVELOPMENT SERVICES, GS-3]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, on May 23, 2016, the Waukee City Council approved a Collective Bargaining
Agreement with the Communications Workers of America (CWA), Local #7102, AFL-CIO, in
effect July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2021 (Resolution #16-219); AND,
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee and representatives of CWA, Local #7102, have reviewed and
approve a Memorandum of Understanding for the current Collective Bargaining Agreement
related to the position addition of Administrative Assistant – Development Services and the
placement at grade GS-3 on the wage matrix to the bargaining unit; AND,
WHEREAS, the Memorandum of Understanding is attached hereto and by reference
incorporated herein; AND,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa on
this 20th day of January, 2020 that the Memorandum of Understanding with Communications
Workers of America (CWA) regarding addition of the position of Administrative Assistant –
Development Services and placement on the wage matrix to the July 1, 2013 - June 30, 2016
Contract is hereby approved.
