THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
RESOLUTION 2020-
APPROVING APPOINTMENT TO FILL A VACANT COUNCIL SEAT
WITH A TERM TO EXPIRE DECEMBER 31, 2021
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS, Courtney Clarke was elected to the position of mayor for a four-year term
beginning January 1, 2020; AND,
WHEREAS, subsequently, Clarke submitted a letter resigning from her position as council
member, effective December 31, 2019, in order to assume the duties of mayor; AND,
WHEREAS, on January 6, 2020, the Waukee City Council accepted Clarke’s resignation as
council member; AND,
WHEREAS, by authorization of the Code of the State of Iowa, Section 372.13(2)(a), the
remaining members of the City Council may fill the vacancy by appointment within 60 days
after the vacancy occurs; AND,
WHEREAS, a Notice of the Waukee City Council’s intent to fill a vacant council seat by
appointment was published in the Dallas County News on January 23, 2020, in accordance with
the provision of the Code of the State of Iowa, Section 372.13(2)(a).
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
10th day of February, 2020 that ________________ is hereby appointed to fill a vacant City
Council seat, effective February 18, 2020, with a term to expire December 31, 2021.
