SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall
on April 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Four (4) bids were received with the
apparent low bid from Koester Construction Co. Inc., of Grimes, IA, in
the amount of $465,700.00 (total bid with alternates).
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$465,700.00
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract to Koester
Construction Co. Inc., of Grimes, IA, in the amount of $465,700.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution

RESOLUTION 2020-
RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE ALICE'S ROAD LANDSCAPE
ENHANCEMENTS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE
OF IOWA:
Section 1.That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the Alice's Road Landscape Enhancements, described in the plans and
specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on April 20, 2020, be and is hereby accepted, the
same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work, as follows:
Contractor: Koester Construction Co., Inc., of Grimes, IA
Amount of bid: $465,700.00
Portion of project: All construction work
Section 2.That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 20th day of April, 2020.

RE: Alice’s Road Landscape Enhancements
Dear Brad,
Four (4) bids were received on April 15, 2020 for the above referenced project. We propose that City of
Waukee consider the bids, and award the contract to Koester Construction Company, Inc. on the basis
of their lowest responsive, responsible bid for the base bid and acceptance of all alternates of Four
Hundred Sixty-Five Thousand, Seven Hundred Dollars and 00/100 ($465,700.00). This award is subject
to submittal of acceptable bonds and insurance.
Once approval from the City Council is obtained, please contact our office and we will proceed with
finalizing the agreement, bonds, and insurance.
We look forward to continuing to work with you on the Alice’s Road Landscape Enhancements. Please
