AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of resolution approving Proposal for Legacy
Pointe Pond Dredging and Sediment Removal
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project includes the removal of sediment to
restore the pond to the original design grades as best as possible. Work includes pond dewatering,
hauling of material to disposal site, seeding and stabilizing disturbed areas, erosion control as
necessary and north bank erosion repair. This work is anticipated to take one week to complete
and will be completed yet this summer.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $51,000.00

RESOLUTION 2020-
APPROVING PROPOSAL FOR LEGACY POINTE POND DREDGING AND
SEDIMENT REMOVAL
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas
County; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Public Works Department solicited quotes for the dredging
and sediment removal of the pond known as Legacy Pointe Pond, which abuts E.
Hickman Road and SE Legacy Pointe Boulevard; AND,
WHEREAS, City staff recommend contracting with Knox Trucking of Ankeny, IA, for
said services.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 6th day of July, 2020, that it hereby approves the Proposal for Legacy Pointe
Pond Dredging and Sediment Removal.

Legacy Point Detention – REVISED PROPOSAL
Knox Trucking LLC provides the following quote for dredging and sediment removal of the Legacy Point
Detention Pond.
- Dewater pond and bypass pump incoming water as necessary
- Prep dump site for truck access and import laydown area
- Remove accumulated sediment and haul to Caliber Iowa dump site just west of detention pond
- Level/Process/Dry/Compact import soils for control fill at dump site
- Reseed and stabilize disturbed areas at detention pond and dump site
- Erosion control as necessary
- Includes fixing erosion on north bank as follows
o Repair ‘erosion lip’ by reshaping eroded area with dirt
o Install 8’ band of TRM erosion matting (2’ below water level and 6’ above)
o Seed/Stabilize disturbed area on north bank
Scope includes removal of sediment to restore pond to original design grades as best as possible. No
reshaping of banks above the water level is included other than restoring grade disturbed during the
process. Any work associated with existing retaining wall and rock ledge is not included. Engineering,
surveying, and testing are not included.
TOTAL: $51,000
Ideally the work could be scheduled and coordinated during a dry week of weather this Summer. We
have some schedule flexibility/availability as early as mid-June. The project would take 1 week.
