AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of Change Order No. 2 to Koester Construction
Company for the Alice’s Road Landscape Enhancement Project decreasing
the contract in the amount of $29,030.00
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Based upon the number and location of utilities located
along Alice’s Road and the sidewalk/trail, it has been determined that it is not
feasible to install street trees as was originally contemplated on the corridor
enhancement plan.
The proposed Change Order No. 2 relates to the removal of the street trees
from the project as well as some additional pot holing that was necessary to
verify utility locations.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: Decrease of $29,030.00 to
the contract.
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Approve Change Order No. 2
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the change order.

Dear Mr. Deets,
Attached please find a Change Order for the Waukee Alice’s Road Landscaping project. The
Change Order includes the following items:
• Landscaping changes: eliminate alternate 1: Street Tree.
• Pot holing for underground utilities not shown on plans by Iowa Signal.
We have reviewed the Change Order Request attached to this letter and recommend approval. If City
staff concurs with this change order, we recommend the City of Waukee decrease the contract price in
the amount of $29,030.00.
