for the Waukee Public Library Stormwater Improvements increasing the
contract amount by $1,925.

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Change Order No. 3 is for additional reinforcing steel
within the PCC Beam Curbs. .
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The net result of this
Change Order increases the contract price in the amount of $1,925.

Mr. Koester,
Please find attached Change Order #3 for the Waukee Public Library Stormwater Improvements. The
change order includes the following items:
• Additional reinforcing steel within the PCC Beam Curbs
The PCC Beam Curb separates the parking area and permeable pavers from the bio retention cells
within the parking lot islands. Its has been determined that additional reinforcing should be added to
assist in the long-term performance of the beam curbs and prevent premature failure.
We have reviewed the change order items and unit prices, both are line with anticipated amounts. If
City staff concurs with this change, we recommend the City of Waukee approve this change order in the
amount of $1,925 to the construction contract for the Waukee Public Library Stormwater Improvements
with Elder Corporation of Pleasant Hill, IA.

THE CONTRACT IS CHANGED AS FOLLOWS:
CO-3.1 - Additional reinforcing steel was determined necessary within the beam curbs that separate the parking lot from the bio retention cells in the parking lot
islands. The reinforcing will help to prevent long term failure of the beam curb and damage from usage over time.
