AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of Change Order No. 1 to Michels Pipeline for
the 2020 Gas Transmission Modifications Project in the amount of $0.00.
FORMAT:Motion
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Due to the delay caused by an existing MidAmerican
gas main conflict in the project area, the City of Waukee is extending the contract completion
date of October 16, 2020 to October 30, 2020.
Due to the unknown MidAmerican gas main and existing easement, the construction plans have
been revised to accommodate the MidAmerican gas main and other existing utilities. The change
involved moving the sectionalizing valve setting and the regulator station further to the east
within the same site footprint. This resulted in changing the connection of the 4-inch upstream
from the middle of the underground header to the east regulator run. The City will provide
additional pipe as needed. No other additional materials are required.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: There shall be no change on
contract price.

RE: 2020 Gas Transmission Modifications – Change Order #1
Dear Mr. Grundman,
Below and attached is Change Order #1 for your use:
1. Due to the delay caused by the MidAmerican gas main conflict in the project area, the
City of Waukee is hereby extending the contract completion date of October 16, 2020 to
October 30, 2020 per the contract dated September 1, 2020. Liquidated damages will
start on October 31, 2020. There shall be no change in contract price for this item.
2. Due to the unknown foreign gas main and existing easement, the construction plans
have been revised to accommodate the foreign gas main and other existing utilities.
The change involved moving the sectionalizing valve setting and the regulator station
further to the east within the same site footprint. This resulted in changing the
connection of the 4-inch upstream from the middle of the underground header to the
east regulator run. Waukee will provide additional pipe as needed. No other additional
materials are required. Please refer to the attached revised construction plans.
Also attached to this letter are a site plan and five cross-sections through the site. This is for
information only and shall not be considered part of the construction plans. This is merely
additional information for your use should you choose to use them. If site conditions allow, the
horizontal 3R elbow at each riser may be eliminated and the horizontal run of the pipe can be
aligned with the vertical riser with one vertical 3R elbow. These drawings depict the existing
ground profile along with proposed elevations.
