AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution awarding contract [City Hall
Finance and IT Department Remodel]
FORMAT: Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The Development Services Department has
completed the move to the City Hall Annex to free up additional space
within City Hall for the expansion of the Finance Department. The
proposed improvements within the space formerly occupied by
Development Services include moving the Utility Billing work room to
accommodate the construction of two new offices. The work also
includes painting of all the common spaces throughout the building.
It is anticipated that staffing within the IT Department will also expand
next year. In order to accommodate the expansion, an existing storage
room within the IT Department area is proposed to be remodeled to
accommodate additional staff members.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $28,390.00
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Due to the size and cost of the project, only formal
quotes were required. Staff is recommending moving forward with Edge
Companies out of Grimes, Iowa to complete the work. They recently
completed the work on the City Hall Annex remodel.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution

RESOLUTION 19-
APPROVING CONTRACT FOR CITY HALL INTERIOR IMPROVEMENTS [230 W.
HICKMAN ROAD]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, it has been determined that some minor interior improvements are required within City
Hall located at 230 W Hickman Road to accommodate the expansion of the Finance Department and
IT Department offices; AND,
WHEREAS, City staff requested quotes for interior improvements from local construction companies;
AND,
WHEREAS, having reviewed the submitted quotes, City staff recommends awarding a contract for
interior improvements to 230 W. Hickman Road to Edge Companies LLC of Grimes, Iowa in the
amount of $28,390.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Waukee that the
contract for City of Waukee interior improvements as noted above be accepted and approved.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and approved the 16th day of December,
2019.
