RESOLUTION 2020-483
AUTHORIZING A NEW COMPONENT OF EMPLOYEE SICK LEAVE BENEFIT
[TRADE TIME FOR FITNESS
IN THE NAME AND BY THE A UTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WA UKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the Employee Wellness Committee proposes the continuance of a component to the
City's existing sick leave policy called "Trade Time for Fitness"; AND,
WHEREAS, employees with more than 80 hours of sick leave could submit a claim to cash out a
portion of their accrued sick leave to be reimbursed for wellness- related expenses; AND,
WHEREAS, reimbursement claims could not exceed $1000 per calendar year and could not result in
an employee's sick leave balance falling below 80 hours; AND,
WHEREAS, through the Employee Benefits Tax Levy, the City partially self —funds health costs for
employees and due to positive claims history; it has available funds to be used for health related
benefits, which would allow the funding of the Trade Time for Fitness program; AND,
WHEREAS, the "Trade Time for Fitness" program is an investment in our employees and instills a
sense of value in their overall health and well-being.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 21"
day of December 2020, that the Trade Time for Fitness program is hereby approved.
