AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of Change Order No. 2 to Alliance
Construction for the SE Ashworth Road Corridor Improvements – SE
Parkview Crossing Drive to SE Glacier Trail Project increasing the
contract amount by $8,970.02.
FORMAT:Motion
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Change Order No. 2 is for core drilling structures for
subdrain added at the back of curb, watermain bored under Ashworth to maintain traffic, credit to
contractor for pavement not replaced, deletion of certified plan inspection, sawcut for water main
bore, added pavement markings to accommodate traffic over winter shutdown, pavement marking
removal, and additional compensation for surveying Mid American and Century Link proposed
facilities within project corridor.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The net result of this
Change Order increases the contract price in the amount of $8,970.02.

Attached please find a detailed Change Order for City Council approval on January 17, 2022.
Change Description:
• Item CO 4.20 Core Drill Structures for Subdrain
o Subdrain added at BOC. Outlet structures needed to be core drilled to attach
subdrain.
• Item CO 5.16 Water Main, Trenchless, Restrained Joint, PVC C900, DR18, 6 In.
o Added water main bore under Ashworth to maintain traffic.
• Item CO 5.17 Water Main, Trenchless, Restrained Joint, PVC C900, DR18, 8 In.
o Added water main bore under Ashworth to maintain traffic.
• Item 7.15 Pavement Removal
o Water main bored under Ashworth to maintain traffic. Credit to contractor for
pavement not removed.
• Item 7.16 Temporary Pavement, HMA or PCC, 8 In.
o Water main bored under Ashworth to maintain traffic. Credit to contractor for
pavement not replaced.
• Item CO 7.17 Delete Certified Plant Inspection
o CPI allowed not to be utilized on the project.
• Item CO 7.18 Sawcut for Water Main Bore
o Water main bored under Ashworth to maintain traffic . Added saw cutting for
patches prior to change.
• Item CO 8.25 Painted Pavement Markings, Waterborne
o Added markings to accommodate traffic over winter shutdown.

We have reviewed the submitted quotes from Alliance Construction and they appear to be in
order with current industry pricing. If City Staff concurs with this pricing, we recommend the City
of Waukee Increase the contract price in the amount of $8,970.02 to complete the additional work
associated with Change Order #2. If you have any questions, please contact me.
