AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution awarding quote for Street Median
Landscape Maintenance
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project consists of median maintenance for medians
located on University Avenue from Ashworth to Waco, medians on Waco,
medians on Brick, medians along Alice’s Road from University to Hickman
Rd. and the medians on the East and West side of the intersection of Warrior
and Windfield Parkway, medians along Legacy Pointe Boulevard, the green
space along Hickman Road in front of Earl May, the medians on Hickman
Road from SE Waco Place to just west of 10th Street. New for this contract
right of way on 10th St. from Laurel to Northview (east side), right of way on
NW 10th St., and NW Sunrise Dr. from 10th St. to the roundabout (including
the roundabout).The contract includes right-of-way turf maintenance and
landscape bed maintenance. Information packets were sent out to all previous
bidders and an additional lawn care company for a total of 3 packets. The
quote opening took place on Wednesday, March 9 at 2:00 p.m. Two quotes
were received. The two quotes received are as follows:
1. #1 Lawn Care (Des Moines, IA) $29,950.00
2.RJ Lawn and Landscape (Waukee, IA) $69.900.00
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$29,950.00
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff has reviewed the bids and recommend awarding
the quote to #1 Lawn Care (Des Moines, IA). Staff has met with the contractor
to go over the expectations and feel that the company will be able to meet the
expectations of the City of Waukee. #1 Lawn Care held the contract in 2019,
2020 & 2021.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF WAUKEE, IOWA:
That the following quote for certain public improvements described in general as 2022 Street
Median Landscape Maintenance and described in the Request for Quotes that was provided to
vendors be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsible quote received for such
work, as follows:
Contractor: #1 Lawn Care of Des Moines, IA
Amount of quote: $29,950.00
PASSED AND APPROVED this 21st day of March, 2022.
