Proposed Ordinance PREPARED BY: Becky Schuett REVIEWED BY: PUBLIC NOTICE INFORMATION – NAME OF PUBLICATION: DATE OF PUBLICATION: I4 1 ORDINANCE NO. ____ AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 98, SEWER SERVICE CHARGES, BY AMENDING SECTION 98.01, SEWER SERVICE CHARGES REQUIRED, AS SPECIFIED WHEREAS, due to increasing costs for collection and treatment of waste water the City of Waukee has determined that it is necessary to change the sewer service charges for the use of the municipal sanitary sewer system. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee: Section 1. Chapter 98, Waukee Municipal Code, Section 98.01 should be and the same is hereby repealed and enacted in lieu thereof is as follows: §98.01 Sewer Service Charges Required. Every customer shall pay to the City sewer service fees for the use of and for the service supplied by the municipal sanitary sewer system based upon the amount of water consumed as follows: 1.Effective July 1, 2022, the base charge will be $15.32 for the first 1,000 gallons of water usage, and water usage in excess of the minimum (1,000 gallons) will be $11.57 per 1,000 gallons per month. 2.The rate shall be paid at the time payment of the water bill is due and under the same conditions beginning with the next payment after connection to the sewer system is made. Section 2. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 3. Severability Clause. If any section, provision or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any section, provisions or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional. Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in effect on July 1, 2022 after its final passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
