AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of Change Order No. 3 to Elder Corporation
for the NW 2nd Street Construction – NW Venture Drive to NW Douglas
Parkway project increasing the contract price in the amount of
$24,065.58
FORMAT:Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Change Order No. 3 is for traffic control for trail
construction, painted pavement markings, and painted symbols and
legend to accommodate city request to open the roadway to traffic last
fall. Change Order No. 3 also includes handhole and conduit lowering to
coordinate with adjacent development.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The net result of this
Change Order increases the contract price in the amount of $24,065.58.

Dear Ms. Kappos:
Attached please find a detailed Change Order for City Council appr oval on May 2, 2022.
Change Description:
• Item CO 8.6 Traffic Control for Trail Construction
o Added contract quantity to accommodate city request to open roadway to traffic.
Needed for safety measures when paving trail under traffic.
• Item CO 8.18 Handhole and Conduit Lowering
o Added contract quantity to coordinate with adjacent development.
• Item CO 8.19 Painted Pavement Markings, Waterborne
o Added contract quantity to open roadway to traffic over winter shutdown.
• Item CO 8.20 Painted Symbols and Legend, Waterborne
o Added contract quantity to open roadway to traffic over winter shutdown.
We have reviewed the submitted quotes from Elder Corporation and they appear to be in order
with current industry pricing. If City Staff concurs with this pricing, we recommend the City of
Waukee Increase the contract price in the amount of $24,065.58 to complete the additional work
associated with Change Order #3. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Project Title
THE CONTRACT IS CHANGED AS FOLLOWS: Roadway was opened to traffic over winter shutdown to provide access to the high school. In order to keep roadway open and finish
trail, a lane closure will be installed from south end of project through the RAB at Sunrise. Also to accomodate the opening before winter shutdown temporary waterborne
markings were necessary on the open sections of the project. Handhole location adjustment required from the original locaion due to the new proposed deveopment access off NW
2nd.
