Water Main Lowering]
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: This quote is for lowering a section of water main on
Ashworth Road just west of Grand Prairie Parkway. The City of Waukee Utility Locator
identified a section of main with significantly less than 5.5 feet of cover based on tracer wire
readings. The contractor will isolate this section of main, remove and reinstall approximately 353
linear feet of water main at the minimum 5.5 feet of cover and test.
The City received five quotes from Elder Corporation, Downing Construction, Rognes
Corporation, Absolute Infrastructure and J&K Contracting. J&K contracting submitted the
apparent low quote in the amount of $68,000.00.
Based on review of the quotes received, City Staff recommends award of the quotation for the
Ashworth Road Water Main Lowering in the amount of $68,000.00 to J&K Contracting LLC of
Urbandale, Iowa.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $68,000.00. This project is
funded from the SE Ashworth Rd Corridor Improvements project.
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff recommend approval of the resolution awarding
the quote to J&K Contracting LLC of Urbandale, Iowa [Ashworth Road Water Main Lowering]
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF WAUKEE, IOWA:
That the following quote for certain public improvements described in general as the
Ashworth Road Water Main Lowering and described in the Request for Quotes that was
provided to contractors be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsible quote
received for such work, as follows:
Contractor: J&K Contracting LLC of Urbandale, IA
Amount of quote: $68,000.00
