Road Pavement Patching Project]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The quotes are for the 2022 Ashworth Road Patching
Project including all labor, materials and equipment necessary to construct approximately 1245
square yards of pavement removal and replacement, traffic control and miscellaneous associated
work, including cleanup.
Quotes were received on April 26, 2022, with five general contractors submitting quotes. The
apparent low bid was submitted by The Concrete Contracting Company of Grimes, Iowa for
$182,673.75.
Based on review of the bids received and the project budget, Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. recommends
award of the project for a total amount of $182,673.75 to The Concrete Contracting Company of
Grimes, IA. This project has an August 5, 2022, final completion date.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $182,673.75 This project is
funded through the annual Road Use Tax Fund for street patching ($150,000) and the remaining
portion will be funded from the Ute Ave and Ashworth Rd Intersection Improvement project fund
($80,000).
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff recommend approval of the resolution awarding
the contract to The Concrete Contracting Company of Grimes, IA [2022 Ashworth Road
Pavement Patching Project]
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF WAUKEE, IOWA:
That the following quote for certain public improvements described in general as 2022
Ashworth Road Pavement Patching Project and described in the Solicitation for Quotations that
was provided to contractors be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsible
quote received for such work, as follows:
Contractor: The Concrete Contracting Company of Grimes, IA
Amount of quote: $182,673.75
PASSED AND APPROVED this 2nd day of May, 2022.

The City of Waukee received quotations until 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, for the 2022
Ashworth Road Pavement Patching project. A total of five quotations were received as follows:

The Engineer’s Estimate of Cost for the project was $257,000.
Our recommendation is to award the contract to The Concrete Contracting Company in the
amount of $182,673.75.
