AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving funding pursuant to
the Amended and Substituted 28E Agreement with Waukee Area
Christian Services

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City has an existing 28E agreement outlining
certain obligations of the City and Waukee Area Christian Services. A
resolution to approve the funding amount for the current fiscal year must
now be considered.

THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
RESOLUTION 2022-
RESOLUTION APPROVING FUNDING PURSUANT TO THE AMENDED AND
SUBSTITUTED 28E AGREEMENT WITH WAUKEE AREA CHRISTIAN SERVICES
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, Waukee Area Christian Services has a long history of providing much needed
social services in the community; AND,
WHEREAS, on July 2, 2020, the Waukee City Council and Waukee Area Christian Services
entered into a 28E agreement to address the need within the City of Waukee to provide
emergency rental and utility assistance to qualifying low income Waukee residents (Resolution
#2020-219); AND,
WHEREAS, on September 20, 2021, the Waukee City Council and Waukee Area Christian
Services entered into an amended and substituted 28E agreement to provide assistance to
qualifying low income residents within the city limits access to a food pantry, health clinic,
community garden, seasonal programs, and make available trained and certified social workers
and staff members, and essential clothing; AND
WHEREAS, the Waukee City Council recognizes that Waukee Area Christian Services has the
established the infrastructure and resources in place, not otherwise available within the City, to
provide aid to qualifying low income Waukee residents.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that a contribution in the amount of $15,000.00 be
made to the Waukee Area Christian Services for fiscal year 2023 to be administered pursuant to
the 28E agreement with the Agency.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that payment shall be made upon receipt by the City of
Waukee of an invoice from the Agency for the amount designated above.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and approved this the 16th day of May,
2022.
