AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of Change Order No. 2 to Grimes Asphalt and
Paving Corporation for the 2021 Asphalt Overlay project increasing the
contract amount by $4,537.50 and changing the completion date to June
30, 2022.
FORMAT:Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Change Order No. 2 extends the completion deadline
for the project to June 30th , 2022. It was determined that construction activities would
negatively impact the daytime traffic at Vince Meyer Learning Center, so delaying completion
until June 30th, 2022 will allow the Contractor to wait until after school lets out to start work on
Ashworth Drive. The new completion date is outside the fall seeding window, so sod will be
installed in lieu of seeding.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The net result of this
Change Order increases the contract price in the amount of $4,537.50.

Dear Rudy,
Please find the attached Change Order #2 for the 2021 Asphalt Overlay Improvements. The change order
includes the following items:
· Changing from seed to sod (Net addition of $4,537.50)
· Changing completion date of the contract to June 30th, 2022
Per City request we have changed from seeding on the project to sod. Additionally, this change order extends
the completion deadline for the project to June 30th, 2022. It was determined that construction activities would
negatively impact the daytime traffic at Vince Meyer Learning Center, so delaying completion until June 30th,
2022 will allow the Contractor to wait until after school lets out to start work on Ashworth Drive.
We have reviewed the change order item and unit price and deem them reasonable for the quantity of sodding
to be completed. If City staff concurs with this change, we recommend the City of Waukee approve this change
order in the amount of $4,537.50 to the construction contract for 2021 Asphalt Overlay Improvements with
Grimes Asphalt and Paving Corporation of Des Moines, IA.

Change Order Description The Completion Date is being changed to June 30th, 2022. The completion date was changed to allow for construction after school let out for the
summer. Vince Meyer Learning Center experiences traffic backups throughout the day and construction would cause further issues.
After reviewing site and seeding conditions, the seeding is being changed to sod. Price includes all materials and labor to accomplish the work.
Price also includes 1 watering of sod.
