MEETING DATE: September 6, 2022
AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a Motion to set a Public Hearing Date of
October 3, 2022, as the date of public hearing on an ordinance to amend
Chapter 169, Zoning Ordinance, City of Waukee, Iowa, by rezoning
certain property from A-1 (Agricultural District) to R-2 (One & Two
Family Residential District), R-2 (One & Two Family Residential
District) / PD-1 (Planned Development Overlay), R-3 (Multi-Family
Residential District), R-4 (Row Dwelling & Townhome District), and C-
1 (Community & Highway Service Commercial District) [Remington
Pointe]
FORMAT: Motion
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Staff has received a request for rezoning of
approximately 76.5-acres of property from A-1 to R-2, R-2/PD-1, R-3,
R-4, and C-1. The property is generally located south of University
Avenue and west of 6th Street. The applicant has received the necessary
consent from property owners within 250-feet.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend approval of the City Council
setting the public hearing date for October 3, 2022, to discuss this matter
further. Council action to set the public hearing date does not indicate
support for the project. Rather, it represents the Council’s willingness to
allow the public hearing process to continue.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the motion.
