AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a motion setting October 17, 2022 as the date of
public hearing on an Ordinance to amend Chapter 170, Floodplain
Management.
FORMAT: Motion
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City of Waukee participates in the Nation Flood
Insurance Program (NFIP). New floodplain maps have been created by the
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for areas located within the
City of Waukee. The new maps will become effective later this year. For the
City of Waukee to continue participation in the NFIP, the existing Floodplain
Management Ordinance needs to be amended to be consistent with current
minimum requirements and to reference the new flood maps.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend approval of the motion to set the
public hearing for October 17, 2022 to further discuss the proposed ordinance.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the motion.
