from the City upon his retirement.

RESOLUTION 2022-
APPROVING BUYBACK OF SERVICE WEAPON
[POLICE CHIEF QUINN]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, Police Chief John Quinn will retire December 31, 2022, after eight and a half years of
service to the Waukee Police Department; AND,
WHEREAS, Chief Quinn requests to buy his service weapon from the City; AND,
WHEREAS, an estimate of the trade-in value of the service weapon and optic was completed by
Rangemasters in the amount of $525 - $550; AND,
WHEREAS, the specific service weapon is identified as a Smith and Wesson, M&P 9mm M2.0
4.25IN with Holoson Red Dot Optics, serial number NJB4728; AND,
WHEREAS, legal counsel and the Human Resources Director have reviewed the valuation submitted
by Rangemasters and the request from Chief Quinn; AND,
WHEREAS, considering his distinguished years of service to the City of Waukee, the City
Administrator recommends approval of Chief Quinn’s request to purchase his service weapon from the
City upon his retirement in the amount of $525.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa on this
7th day of November 2022, that it hereby approves the service weapon buyback by retiring Police Chief
John Quinn in the amount of $525.00.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the service weapon shall not be turned over to the personal
possession of John Quinn until payment is received by the City.

like to proceed with the process to purchase my service weapon.
