AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution appointing and providing temporary
additional compensation to the interim Police Chief.
FORMAT:Mayor’s Appointment and Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Police Lieutenant Scott Cunningham will act as interim
Police Chief, in addition to his regular duties, from December 31, 2022 –
January 15, 2023. During this time, Lieutenant Cunningham will be
temporarily compensated, in addition to the salary established for his duties as
Lieutenant, $473.86/biweekly, for the period commencing December 31, 2022
– January 15, 2023.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff recommends approval of the resolution appointing and
approving temporary additional compensation to the interim Police Chief.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 2022-
APPOINTING AND APPROVING FOR TEMPORARY ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION TO
THE INTERIM POLICE CHIEF
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, Mayor Courtney Clarke appoints Waukee Police Lieutenant Scott Cunningham as
Interim Police Chief, in addition to his regular duties; AND,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to provide additional compensation related to the
employee’s performance of the additional duties on a temporary basis, from December 31, 2022 –
January 15, 2023; AND,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council that Lieutenant
Cunningham be temporarily compensated, in addition to the salary established for his duties as
Lieutenant, $473.86/bi-weekly, for the period commencing December 31, 2022, through January 15,
2023.
Approved and adopted this 5th day of December 2022.
