Notice of Public Hearing PREPARED BY:Linda Burkhart REVIEWED BY: PUBLIC NOTICE INFORMATION – NAME OF PUBLICATION: Des Moines Register DATE OF PUBLICATION: March 21, 2023 H5 (To be published on March 21, 2023) NOTICE OF MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE OF IOWA, ON THE MATTER OF THE PROPOSED ISSUANCE OF NOT TO EXCEED $25,000,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX BONDS OF THE CITY AND THE HEARING ON THE ISSUANCE THEREOF PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Waukee, State of Iowa, will hold a public hearing on the 3rd day of April, 2023, at 5:30 P.M., in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 230 West Hickman Road, Waukee, Iowa, at which meeting the Council proposes to take additional action for the issuance of not to exceed $25,000,000 General Obligation Local Option Sales Tax Bonds, bearing interest at the rate of not to exceed nine per centum (9%) per annum, to provide funds to pay the costs of construction, improvement, and equipping of a public safety facility, including fire and police services, with all necessary utilities, public improvements, and related site improvements, and to acquire real estate therefore, and for parks and trail improvements. Principal and interest on the proposed Bonds will be payable from the Designated Portion of the local option sales and services tax receipts collected by the City (equal to 50% thereof) and, to the extent provided in Iowa Code 423B.9(4), the debt service fund of the City. At any time before the date fixed for taking action for the issuance of the Bonds, a petition, signed by eligible electors residing within the City in a number equal to at least three percent (3%) of the registered voters of the City, may be filed with the City Clerk, asking that the question of issuing the Bonds be submitted to the registered voters of the City at a special election called upon the question of issuing said Bonds. At the above meeting the Council shall receive oral or written objections from any resident or property owner of the City to the above action. After all objections have been received and considered, the Council will at the meeting or at any adjournment thereof, take additional action for the issuance of the Bonds or will abandon the proposal to issue said Bonds. This notice is given by order of the City Council of the City of Waukee, State of Iowa, as provided by Section 423B.9(4) of the Code of Iowa. Dated this 20th day of March, 2023. Rebecca D.
