AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the use of Triangle
Park and the temporary closing of certain public streets for the 2023
Farmers Market
FORMAT:Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The proposed resolution will close a portion of
Walnut St. between 5th to 6th St. on Wednesdays from June 7 to
September 27, 2023, as well as approve the use of Triangle Park for the
duration of the Farmer’s Market.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 2023-
APPROVING THE USE OF TRIANGLE PARK AND THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF
CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS FOR THE 2023 FARMERS MARKET
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Downtown Business Association sponsors and administers the Waukee Farmers
Market, an annual event that takes place in the Triangle Park area within the Downtown Triangle Business
District; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Downtown Business Association requests that Walnut Street from 6th Street to a
point 135 feet to the east be closed between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. each Wednesday from
June 7, 2023, to September 27, 2023, for the event; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Downtown Business Association also requests the use of Triangle Park during
these same said dates and times; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 17th day of
April, 2023, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of Walnut Street from 6th Street to a point 135
feet to the east between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. each Wednesday from June 7, 2023, to
September 27, 2023, for the purpose of the Farmers Market;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council that it hereby approves the use of
Triangle Park during same said dates and times for the purpose of the Farmers Market.
