AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution amending Resolution No. 2023-088
accepting the Traffic Signal System Enhancement Project
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The contractor submitted a change order request for work
completed after the project was final accepted by the City Council. Due to the timing of the change
order, legal staff is recommending we approve the change order and approve a resolution revising the
previously approved resolution accepting the project. This will ensure the total project cost is reflected
accurately in the project files.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Snyder & Associates, Inc. has reviewed the public
improvements for the Traffic Signal Enhancement Project, Detection Upgrade project and find it in
general conformance with the standard specifications for the City of Waukee.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 2023-
RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 AND
AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2023-088 ACCEPTING THE
TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM ENHANCEMENTS
WHEREAS, on February 21, 2023 the Council passed Resolution No. 2023-088 accepting
the Traffic Signal Systems Enhancements; and
WHEREAS, prior to adoption of Resolution No. 2023-088, the Contractor submitted
Change Order No. 2 in the amount of $ $9,938.01 for necessary work on the project; and
WHEREAS, the Project Engineer recommends approval of Change Order No. 2, which
modifies the contract costs for construction of the project to $603,954.01; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2023-088 approved total final construction cost prior to
proposed change order in the amount of $594,016.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WAUKEE, STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1.Change Order No. 2 in the amount of $9,938.01 is hereby approved and adopted.
Section 2.Resolution No. 2023-088, Section 1, is hereby amended by approving final
construction cost of $603,954.01. All other provisions of Resolution No. 2023-088 shall remain in
full force and effect.

We hereby certify that we have made an on-site review of the completed construction of the above
referenced project as performed by Iowa Signal, Inc.
It is our opinion that the work is in substantial accordance with the plans and specification and that
the final amount of the contract is Six Hundred Three Thousand Nine Hundred Fifty-Four Dollars
and One Cent ($603,954.01).
